Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Experienced Tax Preparer to join our team for the upcoming tax season and beyond. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in individual income tax preparation and be able to work independently to provide exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct face-to-face or virtual interviews with clients to gather complete financial information and necessary documentation.
- Prepare and file accurate and complete individual federal and state income tax returns (Form 1040 and all related schedules: A, B, C, D, E, F, etc.).
- Utilize applicable federal, state, and local tax laws to determine appropriate deductions, adjustments, and credits to minimize client tax liability.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and stay updated on the latest tax law changes.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding tax matters, answer questions, and provide future tax planning advice.
- Review financial records, such as income statements and documentation of expenditures, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Qualifications & Skills
- 2+ seasons of previous experience in a tax office environment preparing individual income tax returns (Form 1040).
- Proficiency in professional Drake Tax preparation software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with bookkeeping software, particularly QuickBooks Desktop or Quickbooks Online, is preferred.
- Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA certification is preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a passion for client service.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
