We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Transportation Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to our operations and plays a crucial part in ensuring the prompt and proper movement of our interstate and local trucking deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordination: Work closely with trucking transportation providers to ensure prompt and proper movement of shipments. You will be the point of contact for coordinating all shipping activities.
- Customer Service: Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries about shipments. Your role is pivotal in maintaining our reputation for excellent customer service.
- Document Review: Review shipping documents to ensure accuracy. Your attention to detail will help us avoid costly mistakes and maintain efficiency.
- Tracking: Keep track of local and interstate shipping. Your ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks will ensure that our operations run smoothly.
- Quality Control: Ensure that the quality of all services provided meets the required standards. Your commitment to quality will help us uphold our high standards.
- Process Development: Develop processes that make the supply chain more efficient and organized. Your innovative thinking will help us continually improve our operations.
- Vendor Management: Open vendor accounts related to the shipping department. Your negotiation skills will help us maintain cost-effective operations.
- Rate Negotiation: Negotiate local and interstate trucking rates. Your ability to negotiate will help us keep costs down and stay competitive.
- Record Keeping: Maintain proper records for all local and interstate shipments. Your meticulous record-keeping will help us stay organized and compliant.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a similar role within the transportation or logistics industry.
- Strong knowledge of shipping procedures and regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in using computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite and any relevant shipping or logistics software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience with vendor management and rate negotiation.
- Familiarity with quality control standards in the shipping industry.
- Experience with process improvement or efficiency optimization in a logistics setting.
