Recon Aerospace & Defense, Inc. We are looking for an experienced avionics technician to join our team! Recon Aerospace & Defense is the premier manufacturer of airborne mapping systems and embedded computers. As a technician at Recon, you will be responsible for customer support, and repairing computer systems and subcomponents. Your role will be crucial for ensuring our customer support and product line infrastructure works and is properly supported.

Technician duties and responsibilities

  • Set up hardware.
  • Install software.
  • Maintain and repair technological equipment.
  • Manage software in computers and mapping systems.
  • Ensure privacy and data protection.
  • Perform regular upgrades.
  • Perform troubleshoot activities.
  • Install well-functioning GPS/ Software
  • Manage customer network components (servers, IPs, GIS data)
  • Manage and implement customer security solutions.
  • Create records of repairs and fixes and work with accounting.
  • Provide technical support. (AFTER HOURS IF NEEDED).
  • Train and collaborate with other team members.
  • Install manage mapping databases.
  • Installing and testing complex avionics/mapping systems on aircraft or spacecraft.
  • Performing highly reliable soldering on components for navigation and mapping systems.
  • Assembling and installing electrical components.
  • Analyzing flight test data to diagnose malfunctions of system components.
  • Coordinating all work with engineers, technicians, and aircraft maintenance staff

Technician requirements

  • Previous working experience as a computer repair technician for 5 years
  • BA in avionics or similar relevant field
  • Any additional relevant diploma or certification will be considered as an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with GPS network and mapping systems and GIS data.
  • In-depth knowledge of computer and mapping systems, internet security and data privacy
  • Outstanding troubleshooting skills
  • Good time-management skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Critical-thinker and problem-solver
  • Must have excellent attendance.
  • Must have good personal hygiene.
  • Experience in aviation or related field.
  • Knowledge of Windows 7 & 10 OS.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.18 - $21.27 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 45 per week
