Financial Institutions Officer

Banesco USA is seeking a Financial Institutions Officer for our International Department.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Engages in business development activities and solicits new business. Interviews prospective customers and requests and evaluates requirements related to account opening.
  • Performs pre-qualification assessments of customers and analyzes the financial condition and risk of financing requests within the framework of the Bank's BSA and Credit policies, while also considering current economic and industry trends.
  • In alignment with BSA, Risk, and Credit, the VP is responsible for presenting new customers to the Compliance Committee and credit proposals to the Loan Committee.
  • Negotiates terms, rates, fees, and collateral, for both loan and deposit products. This ensures alignment with the Bank's risk appetite and profitability objectives while meeting client needs. This responsibility involves a deep understanding of market conditions, competitor offerings, and the client's financial position to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes on both the lending and deposit fronts
  • Manages the overall budget and profitability of the financial institutions’ portfolio. This includes monitoring key performance indicators such as Return on Equity (ROE) for individual relationships and the portfolio, analyzing variances, and developing strategies to optimize revenue generation and cost efficiency. The individual is responsible for ensuring the portfolio meets established financial targets and contributes positively to the Bank's strategic goals.
  • Leads the front-end client due diligence process for all new and existing financial institution relationships, ensuring complete and accurate collection of Know Your Customer (KYC) documentation and information. This involves direct interaction with prospective and existing clients to explain BSA/AML requirements, clarify information needs, and facilitate a smooth, compliant onboarding experience. Acts as the primary point of contact for clients regarding initial compliance inquiries and ensures all necessary regulatory checks are performed before account activation.
  • Identifies opportunities for new product and service offerings tailored to the evolving needs of correspondent banking and non-bank financial institutions. This involves staying informed about market trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes to propose and champion innovative solutions. The individual works collaboratively with product development, marketing, and technology teams to bring these new offerings to market and effectively communicates their value proposition to clients.
  • Conducts periodic in-person visits to assigned countries to foster client relationships, assess market conditions, and perform enhanced due diligence on existing financial institution partners.
  • Coordinates and participates with Compliance in annual compliance reviews related to the portfolio, ensuring adherence to both internal policies and external regulations.
  • Reviews and approves/declines all operational functions of the portfolio for example, Wires, NSF, lines of credit and overdraft reports, for their customers, within the established lending limits.
  • Participates in annual seminars and conferences to promote and increase Banesco USA’s market presence.
  • Responsible for completing annual training program assigned.
  • Performs other functions and/or duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of banking experience with a significant portion of that in financial institutions.
  • Advance computer skills including but not limited to proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Must be bilingual in both English and Spanish. Ability to fluently speak, understand, read and write both languages.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task, with strong organization, time-management and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong customer service skills, ensuring satisfaction of both internal and external customers.
  • Advance knowledge of related State and Federal banking compliance regulations and operational policies.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills make determination to providing customers with solutions.
  • Strong presentation skills to various levels of the organization.
  • Advance knowledge in bank’s operating activities, terminology and products and services.
  • Ability to work in a team environment ensuring performance goals are met.
