Project Accountant - Miami, FL
Position Objective
Our client is currently seeking a Project Accountant to join their dynamic team. This role is essential in ensuring the financial and administrative success of their construction projects. The Project Accountant will oversee contract administration, financial documentation, and internal controls related to each project, working closely with project managers and reporting directly to the Controller and CFO, and indirectly to the Construction or Operations Manager. This position is based out of the Miami (Doral) office.
Responsibilities
Financial Administration

Monitor project cost control (job cost reports, run rate analysis, corrections).

Support project budgeting, including adjustments for changes.

Manage customer-specific billing formats and waiver submissions.

Assist with internal project reviews and status reports.

Optimize working capital by ensuring timely billing, collections, and payment disbursements.

Partner with Project Managers to ensure accurate and timely Schedule of Values and invoicing.
Contract Administration

Expedite and coordinate subcontract agreements and clarify administrative expectations.

Manage contracts, subcontracts, change orders, and related documentation.

Oversee Notice to Owner documents, lien waivers, and sworn statements.

Support claims management and related analysis or documentation.

Facilitate review of joint checks, direct payment agreements, and other financial terms.
Internal Control & Compliance

Maintain and verify information in RedTeam Project Management Software.

Enforce adherence to company policies and procedures.

Monitor and manage insurance certificate compliance.
Accounting Functions

Oversee Accounts Payable and ensure purchasing procedures are followed.

Prepare AIA pay applications.

Monitor and process Accounts Receivable.

Calculate key metrics including Buyout and Payment Velocity.

Submit monthly and as-needed Estimates at Complete for ongoing projects.
Qualifications
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in a commercial General Contractor environment.

Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and project accounting practices.

Familiarity with construction accounting software (RedTeam experience a plus).

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.

Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
