Are you an experienced operations leader with a background in marine terminal planning or vessel logistics? Join our fast-paced terminal operations team as an Assistant Operations Manager Vessel/Yard Planner, where youll play a vital role in executing stowage and discharge strategies, managing vessel schedules, and coordinating closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless operations.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as the main point of contact between vessel execution teams, steamship lines, and terminal operation
- Manage daily vessel schedules, crane assignments, and planning documents (e.g., load/discharge plans, hazmat manifests)
- Coordinate berthing, vessel ganging, and arrivals to ensure optimized turnaround
- Work cross-functionally with yard, rail, and allocation strategy teams to implement executable terminal plans
- Analyze stowage data and trends to improve efficiency and crane productivity
- Upload and validate vessel plans (MOVENS files), ensuring accurate placement for OOG, reefer, and IMDG containers
- Monitor and communicate equipment needs, labor resources, and vessel planning decisions
What You'll Bring:
- 5+ years of experience in marine terminal operations, logistics, supply chain, or a related field.
- Proficiency with TOS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Clear and professional communication written and verbal.
- Proven ability to work under pressure, solve problems, and lead teams effectively.
- Must be able to obtain a Port ID and TWIC card.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available)
- Prior experience with vessel scheduling, COPRAR/MOVENS planning, CHE deployment, and collaboration with ILA labor, preferred
- Stakeholder management and executive-level presentation experience preferred
- Knowledge of hazardous cargo and manifest compliance preferred
Physical and Work Environment:
- Split between office work and on-site operations (including vessel boarding and outdoor conditions)
- May involve physical activity such as lifting, climbing, or standing for extended periods
- PPE required; exposure to noise, fumes, and weather changes is possible
- Must be available for rotating on-call shifts, extended hours, holidays, and weekends as needed.
- This is a drug-free workplace with participation in random testing.
