Government Accountant for a local municipality
PrideStaff Financial is looking for an experienced Government Accountant in the western Palm Beach County area to work with a municipality that offers learning and growth opportunities as well as a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and retirement!
The Government Accountant is responsible for performing accounting duties, preparing financial reports, conducting detailed financial analysis, and assisting with budgeting processes for the municipality. This role ensures compliance with governmental accounting standards and provides critical financial insights to support operational efficiency and strategic planning.
Ideal candidate would have the ability to work independently and good working relationship with outside contractors. You will be responsible for purchase orders, accounts payable, GL accounting, daily deposits and bank reconciliations.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a closely related field.

Minimum of 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial analysis, preferably within a governmental or non-profit environment.

Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Proficiency in financial management software, ERP systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
