We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to join our kitchen team and lead the preparation of our traditional Cuban cuisine.

Job Summary:
The Chef will oversee the kitchen operations, prepare high-quality Cuban dishes, and ensure an exceptional dining experience for our guests. This role requires creativity, a deep understanding of Cuban culinary traditions, and the ability to manage a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining consistency and authenticity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Preparation: Prepare and cook authentic Cuban dishes, including appetizers, entrees, and desserts, adhering to traditional recipes and presentation standards.

  • Kitchen Management: Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food prep, inventory management, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

  • Recipe Development: Collaborate with the management team to create seasonal specials or new menu items while preserving Cuban culinary heritage.

  • Quality Control: Ensure all dishes meet high standards for taste, presentation, and portion size, maintaining consistency across all orders.

  • Inventory & Ordering: Monitor food inventory levels, place orders with vendors, and minimize waste while controlling food costs.

  • Team Leadership: Train and supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks and prep cooks, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and restaurant policies to ensure a safe and compliant kitchen.

  • Customer Satisfaction: Address customer feedback regarding food quality and work with front-of-house staff to resolve issues promptly.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional cooking experience, preferably in Cuban, Latin American, or Caribbean cuisine.

  • Strong knowledge of Cuban culinary techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles (e.g., sofrito, mojo, plantains, etc.).

  • Proven ability to manage a busy kitchen and lead a team in a high-volume restaurant setting.

  • Excellent knife skills and proficiency in preparing a variety of proteins, starches, and sauces.

  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices (ServSafe certification is a plus).

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a restaurant environment.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.

  • Passion for Cuban culture and cuisine, with a commitment to authenticity.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with menu planning or recipe development for Cuban or Latin American dishes.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a restaurant kitchen.
