JOB OVERVIEW:
Greet and serve pool guests in a gracious and professional manner while in accordance with the hotel’s standards of quality, presentation and sanitation. This role must strive to provide anticipatory service at all times. Complete opening and closing procedures and assigned side work. Practice social distancing, observe mask mandates and maintain hand washing routine as ordered by the CDC, Palm Beach County, and the State of Florida.
ESSENTIALS JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Consistently provide friendly, engaging and anticipatory guest service and heartfelt hospitality.
- Ensure that the entire pool area is clean and presentable at all times.
- Welcome and greet every pool guest.
- Provide immediate attention to all guests upon seating in the pool area.
- Assist pool guests with all pool service offerings and functions, included but not limited to placing pool chairs, assisting with umbrellas, providing towels and providing sunscreen.
- Distribute menus, pour water, describe menu and daily specials. Assist guests regarding menu items in an informative and helpful way.
- Assess pool guests’ needs and preferences and make recommendations.
- Correctly customize orders as requested.
- Check identification to verify legal age requirements for all guests.
- Submit food orders to kitchen and beverage orders to bar by entering orders in POS system. Explain any special instructions with accurate abbreviations.
- Serve meals and beverages according to service standards.
- Manage guest orders in a timely and anticipatory manner.
- Monitor all guests for alcohol intake to appropriate levels.
- Follow up with guests to ensure satisfaction and make recommendation for additions.
- Remove soiled dishes and maintain cleanliness.
- Clean, sanitize and reset vacated tables and chairs.
- Maintain full knowledge of and comply with food safety and sanitation policies at all times.
- Observe guests, respond to additional requests.
- Verify accuracy of all checks before presenting to guests and present in a timely manner.
- Accurately operate the point of sale (POS) and process payments.
- Assist bartenders with preparing and mixing beverages in accordance with hotel’s recipes and quality standards.
- Maintain full knowledge of all food & beverage items, garnishes, allergens, contents and preparation methods.
- Offer and deliver pool amenities to guests in the pool area.
- Collect soiled towels and transport them to the laundry.
- Stock the pool area with fresh towels.
- Sweep the pool area. Maintain organization and cleanliness around the pool area.
- Immediately respond to and correct any potential safety conditions such as a wet floor.
- Maintain the highest level of standards of quality of products and service at all times.
- Advise supervisor/manager of any complaints as soon as they occur.
- Perform opening and closing procedures, complete checklists and assigned side work.
- Maintain a well-stocked pool area with an adequate supply of towels, paper goods, dishware, glassware and silverware, amenities, retail items and other accessories.
- Submit orders to supervisor; assist with receipt of deliveries.
- Organize the pool area to streamline service.
- Clean and sanitize assigned areas and equipment thoroughly in-between guest use, before and after shift end.
- Assist support staff with polishing glasses and silverware, folding napkins, cleaning and sanitizing menus, etc.
- Assist guests with pool retail purchases.
- Monitor and handle guest complaints following the instant pacification procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and personal hygiene.
- Demonstrate ability to multi-task, manage time and work well under pressure.
- Adhere to local and government compliance with health and safety regulations to ensure a clean and safe work environment for guests and employees.
- Maintain knowledge of all safety and emergency procedures and be aware of accident prevention policies.
- Follow outlet policies, procedures and service standards.
- Maintain a professional courteous manner with all guests and fellow employees.
- Assist with special and deep cleaning projects as assigned by a supervisor.
- Perform any other duties as requested by supervisor.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with monthly inventory of food & beverage and paper products within F&B outlets.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of server or bartender experience in a luxury hotel/club/restaurant.
- Excellent food & beverage/wine knowledge.
- Proficient in steps of service.
- Excellent guest service skills and passion for hospitality.
- Prior experience with Food & Beverage POS systems.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English.
- Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with guests and co-workers.
- Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to perform consistent work to the hotel’s high standards.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to maintain personal hygiene.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
Desirable:
- Previous luxury guest service/Forbes training.
- Responsible Alcohol Service certificate.
- Fluent in a secondary language.
