Safety & Compliance Officer

We are currently interviewing candidates for a Safety & Compliance Offer position, to work out of the large warehouse facility in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Our client is a fast-growing distributor and retailer with more than 60 years of industry success and locations across the Southeastern U.S. They are committed to workplace safety, employee well-being, and operational excellence.
Position Overview:
The Safety & Compliance Officer (also known as an EHS Specialist, OSHA Safety Manager/Specialist, or Health & Safety Manager/Coordinator) to oversee all occupational health, safety, and compliance functions. This role covers an 80,000 sq. ft. corporate warehouse and multiple retail facilities, with limited regional travel required.
The ideal candidate should have previous experience as stated above, be detail-oriented, knowledgeable in OSHA/EHS regulations, and capable of driving a proactive safety culture through training, inspections, and compliance leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state/local safety regulations.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; document findings and corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training on PPE, equipment, emergency response, and hazard prevention.
- Maintain compliance records, reports, and training documentation.
- Collaborate with management to implement preventative measures and process improvements.
- Serve as primary contact during external audits and regulatory inspections.
- Stay current with evolving safety laws, OSHA updates, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- 2–5+ years of experience in safety compliance, EHS, or occupational health.
- OSHA certification (or related credential) strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and workplace safety standards.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and partner effectively with teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
