SUMMARY
Premier District Management, a growing special district management company, is seeking a highly motivated, self-starting individual with an enthusiasm for accounting and the ability to meet deadlines.
This position performs full-cycle accounting functions for three to four special districts. Duties include, but are not limited to, budget preparation, bank reconciliations, monthly financial reports, payroll, accounts payable, financial audit support and compliance reporting.
ROLE
- Performs highly technical professional work relating to the financial accounting and reporting functions of Florida Special Districts
- Maintains an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to ensure the accuracy of the districts reported financial results
- Manages daily accounting operations to ensure efficient cash management and recording of all transactions in compliance with the accounting processes and internal controls
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and analyzes financial statements and monthly reports
- Maintains an orderly accounting system
- Processes accounts payable
- Completes monthly bank reconciliation
- Issues timely and complete financial statements
- Complies with local, state, and federal reporting requirements
- Assists with the management/reporting of the districts capital assets
- Coordinates the provision of information to external auditors
- Participates in the development of procedures to simplify and improve operations
- Ensures compliance with internal and external financial controls
- Processes monthly payroll for district board members
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 3+ years of accounting experience, municipal / governmental accounting preferred
- 1+ year of AccuFund accounting software a plus, but not required
- Proficiency in core Microsoft Office programs
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles as applied to governmental accounting, auditing and financial reporting
- Familiarity with the principles of governmental budgeting, finance and fund accounting/administration including those endorsed by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) preferred
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Ability to deal with confidential information appropriately
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and duties simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and interest in accuracy
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
