Job Summary:
The Director of Membership & Marketing is responsible for the strategic development and execution of marketing, communications, and membership initiatives to enhance brand awareness, increase member engagement, and drive membership growth and retention. This role ensures alignment with the Club’s overall goals and culture while fostering strong relationships with current and prospective members.
Job Tasks/Duties:
Marketing & Communications
- The Director of Membership & Marketing will develop and implement an annual marketing and communications strategy within budgetary guidelines.
- Oversee all advertising, promotional campaigns, and digital content creation, ensuring alignment with the Club’s brand and culture.
- Manage all internal and external communication channels, including the Club’s website, newsletters, social media, member app, email marketing, and internal digital boards.
- Produce compelling content and collateral to enhance engagement and club participation.
- Ensure timely updates to all Club information and oversee the quality of internal displays, signage, logos, and promotional gifts.
- Partner with operational departments (e.g., F&B, Membership, Events) to market amenities, events, and programs.
- Oversee photography and videography efforts for branding, advertising, and member engagement purposes.
- Coordinate public relations efforts, including press releases and media outreach.
- Respond to member inquiries and feedback in alignment with Club standards.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, media agencies, and other clubs for strategic networking and collaboration.
Membership:
- The Director of Membership & Marketing will oversee all membership-related programs, including onboarding, engagement, and retention initiatives.
- Conduct new member and renter orientations, ensuring smooth integration into the Club community.
- Develop and manage membership recruitment and retention strategies, including monitoring competitive trends and market analysis.
- Maintain accurate membership records, database management, and reporting (e.g., Equity Reports, Resignation Reports, Member Demographics Reports).
- Facilitate membership application processes, transfers, resignations, and suspensions while ensuring compliance with Club policies.
- Monitor and analyze member trends, identifying opportunities for improving member satisfaction and engagement.
- Work with sales agents, attorneys, and title companies to facilitate membership transfers and property-related transactions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for membership-related inquiries, providing exceptional service to prospective and existing members.
Leadership & Administration:
- Supervise, train, and evaluate direct reports within the Membership & Marketing team.
- Prepare, develop and manage annual operating and capital departmental budgets, ensuring financial goals are met.
- Attend leadership meetings and provide strategic insights to Club management.
- Partners with Human Resources on employee branding and internal communications.
- Ensure compliance with all Club policies, procedures, and membership regulations.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in marketing, membership, and hospitality.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, Hospitality/Resort Management or related major;
- Three-Five (3-5) years of relevant work experience in a club, hotel, or resort strongly preferred.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
- Ability to establish and maintain effective lines of internal and external communication with all levels of staff and business partners.
- Directs and oversees the activities of the Membership & Marketing Department to include planning, directing, controlling, and coordinating all membership & marketing communications and public relations activities.
- Knowledge of the Club industry and ability to creatively brand and promote the Club.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
- Normal hearing and vision ranges required.
- Repetitive motion required including computer entry.
