WINK News, the trusted news leader in Southwest Florida, is looking for a dynamic and engaging Anchor/Reporter to join our high-profile morning newscast. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a team that sets the day's news agenda for a passionate and growing audience.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A strong, authoritative, and personable anchor who thrives in a fast-paced live environment.
  • The ability to speak extemporaneously with confidence and clarity on breaking news, developing stories, and live interviews.
  • Proficiency with touch-screen technology or a willingness to learn and master interactive storytelling tools.
  • An anchor who is agile and adaptable, able to pivot seamlessly between serious breaking news and engaging morning-show elements.
  • A strong writer and storyteller who collaborates with producers, reporters, and the digital team to create compelling content across all platforms.
  • A team player who accentuates and enhances the strengths of our two primary morning anchors, bringing additional depth and energy to the newscast.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle news hits WINK’s highly rated morning newscast and contribute to daily editorial discussions.
  • Anchor newscasts on sister station WXCW- WINK CW
  • Engage with viewers in an authentic and relatable way, both on-air and across digital platforms.
  • Work closely with the production team and producers to maximize the use of touch-screen technology for enhanced storytelling.
  • Provide live breaking news coverage, including severe weather and major events. Going into the field to report weekly on these and other big stories.
  • Represent WINK News at community events and maintain a strong connection with the Southwest Florida audience.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of on-air anchoring/reporting experience in a newsroom preferred.
  • Strong ad-libbing skills and the ability to deliver news with authority and warmth.
  • Willingness to learn and effectively use interactive display technology during broadcasts.
  • A team player with a commitment to journalistic excellence and ethical reporting.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Clear verbal and written communication in person, by phone, and via video.
  • Operate standard office and recording equipment.
  • Travel, including local driving to field locations or meetings.
  • Navigate indoor and outdoor environments as needed for reporting.
  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Visual and auditory ability to conduct interviews and review content.
