Position Overview
The Senior Director of Insurance Accounting will lead the accounting function within the insurance division, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and accuracy in financial reporting. This role is critical in overseeing the accounting operations, managing financial reporting processes, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive financial integrity and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with NAIC regulations and manage relationships with regulatory bodies.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage internal controls and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Coordinate reinsurance accounting and reporting activities with relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering professional development and growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with a focus in the insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, statutory reporting, and NAIC regulations.
  • Experience with Yellow Book filings and financial reporting processes.
  • Proven track record in managing internal controls and compliance with SOX.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
