Director of Pharmacy Operations – Lakeland, FL (On-Site)


  • Closed Door, Controlled Environment
  • $170,000 - $200,000
  • Bonus of 5.77%

  • Full Time, Monday-Friday (7 AM – 7PM)


Reporting to the VP of Pharmacy Operations, the Director leads a national pharmacy network, overseeing safe, compliant, and efficient prescription fulfillment. This role manages automated operations, drives continuous improvement, and ensures scalability, quality, and patient satisfaction. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure pharmacy operations adhere to federal and state regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies.
  • Lead multi-state licensing, compliance, and audit preparedness across national distribution networks.
  • Manage high-volume automation systems, robotic dispensing, vendor partnerships, and technology integrations.
  • Oversee cold-chain logistics to maintain integrity of temperature-sensitive medications.
  • Direct inventory management, demand forecasting, procurement, and strategies to reduce waste.
  • Coordinate prescription processing, order fulfillment, packaging, and distribution operations.
  • Support clinical review and data entry teams, streamlining workflows and resolving operational issues.
  • Monitor KPIs and operational performance metrics to minimize errors and maximize efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members through hiring, training, scheduling, performance reviews, and succession planning.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Compliance, Quality, IT, HR, and Talent Acquisition departments.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives and maintain up-to-date SOPs for automation, fulfillment, and patient care.
  • Partner with IT and vendors to implement system enhancements and process automations.
  • Assist in budgeting and cost management for technology, automation, cold-chain, and compliance initiatives.


Qualifications:


  • 5+ years of pharmacy operations leadership in central fill, mail-order, or specialty pharmacy.
  • Advanced degree (PharmD, MBA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience managing large-scale automated pharmacy systems and multi-state licensure.
  • Knowledge of cold-chain management and handling temperature-sensitive products.
  • Experience overseeing large-scale inventory in regulated healthcare settings.
  • Pharmacist licensure in key states preferred.

  • Proficient in MS Office and pharmacy management systems.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and collaboratively.
