Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Lead and oversee all aspects of compensation strategy for shipboard crew (union and non-union). Ensure compensation programs are competitive and compliant while aligning organizational goals and union requirements.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive shipboard compensation programs, including base pay, bonuses, premiums, and allowances across diverse roles and departments (e.g., deck, engine, hotel operations, culinary).
  • Lead annual compensation planning cycles for all Shipboard crew.
  • Manage Shipboard Management Incentive Compensation Plan (MICP) process. Coordinate all data and pay element collection based on MICP guidelines.
  • Work with internal and external business partners to create and evaluate job descriptions, benchmark roles and establish compensation plans, structures, and program elements.
  • Provide consultation on compensation matters related to new hire packages and promotions.
  • Oversee shipboard compensation systems. Maintain pay scales up to date and communicate changes to appropriate teams. Ensure MAPS/ PeopleSoft/ Fidelio/ Hyperion systems are all maintaining accurate salary and position data. Run periodic audits to ensure consistency. Provide support to HR Operations Team ensuring Status Change salary and position change process runs smoothly.
  • Work closely with Finance and Budgeting teams to ensure compensation programs align with cost models and long-term workforce planning.
  • Make recommendations for business process improvements and changes. Assist in all internal audit processes.
  • Develop compensation communication strategies to ensure shipboard crew understand and value the full spectrum of their total rewards.
  • Perform other job-related functions as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

DEGREE TYPE: Bachelor's Degree: Human Resource Management, Accounting, Finance or related field of study; or any equivalent combination of relevant education, skills, training and experience.


EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years' of progressive experience in compensation. At least 3 years of experience managing a team of professionals.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Workday or MAPS preferred.


COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:

  • Understanding of maritime labor law, and familiarity with the cruise or maritime industry highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead global programs and manage geographically dispersed teams and vendors.
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills with expertise in Excel, HRIS, and compensation tools.
