Position Overview:
Palm House is seeking a skilled and dedicated PM Line Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment and a passion for preparing high-quality dinner dishes. As a PM Line Cook, you will play a vital role in the timely preparation and execution of dinner service while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and safety.


Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Cooking:

  • Prepare and cook dinner menu items to order according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and high-quality output.
  • Set up and stock workstations with all necessary supplies and ingredients for dinner service.
  • Work efficiently across various stations (grill, sauté, fry, pantry, etc.), ensuring timely preparation while maintaining food quality and speed.

Food Safety & Sanitation:

  • Monitor and maintain proper food safety and sanitation procedures, ensuring cleanliness of the kitchen, workstations, and equipment.
  • Adhere to food safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure safe food handling practices at all times.

Collaboration & Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with fellow cooks, chefs, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely service during dinner hours.
  • Communicate effectively with other kitchen team members to ensure the flow of service and meet the expectations of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.

Consistency & Quality Control:

  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared according to specifications, maintaining consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Monitor portion sizes, presentation standards, and ensure that dishes are served at the correct temperature.

Inventory & Supply Management:

  • Track inventory levels, monitor ingredient usage, and notify management when supplies need replenishing to avoid disruptions in service.

Training & Development:

  • Assist in training new kitchen staff, ensuring they follow company guidelines, standards, and kitchen procedures.
  • Support the team in achieving high levels of efficiency, quality, and performance.

Attitude & Professionalism:

  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude and foster teamwork, especially during busy service hours.
  • Be adaptable and flexible, taking on additional responsibilities as required during dinner service.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Line Cook in a fast-paced kitchen environment preferred (2+ years).
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring consistency in food preparation and presentation.
  • Passion for culinary arts and desire to grow within the profession.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours or more) during dinner shifts, maintaining stamina and focus.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport heavy items (up to 50 lbs), such as boxes, kitchen supplies, and ingredients.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and reach to perform cooking tasks and access items on high shelves.
  • Manual dexterity to handle kitchen tools, utensils, and equipment efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a hot, humid, and noisy kitchen environment.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced, professional kitchen environment.
  • Requires standing for long periods, lifting heavy items, and working in warm, noisy, and busy conditions, especially during dinner service.
