Library Director
Albizu University
Miami Campus
Albizu University is seeking a qualified Library Director to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of library services at the Miami Campus. The Library Director ensures alignment with the institution’s educational mission and long-term goals, manages all aspects of library operations, and collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to support teaching, learning, and research excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all library services, programs, and resources.
- Supervise all library personnel, including recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Develop and manage the library’s budget in coordination with Finance and acquisitions staff.
- Lead the preparation of the library’s strategic plan, annual reports, and institutional assessments.
- Develop, implement, and maintain library policies and procedures to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation requirements.
- Direct and oversee collection development, ensuring resources are current, relevant, and aligned with academic programs.
- Foster collaboration and resource sharing through participation in local, state, and national library networks and consortia.
- Provide advanced reference and research assistance to faculty, students, and staff.
- Plan and deliver information literacy workshops, library orientations, and other instructional sessions.
- Promote the library’s resources and services through brochures, handouts, and informational campaigns.
- Serve on institutional committees as required.
- Monitor developments in library and information science and integrate emerging technologies and best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chancellor or designated supervisor
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional library experience, including administrative and supervisory roles.
- Knowledge of strategic planning, budgeting, policy development, and staff management.
- Proficiency with library information systems, electronic resources, and integrated library systems (ILS).
- Experience with accreditation reporting and compliance requirements.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Spanish required; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred
