A Cargo Checker Gate is responsible for inspecting, verifying, and documenting the movement of cargo at terminal or facility entry and exit points. This role ensures that cargo entering or leaving the premises matches the provided documentation, complies with safety and security standards, and supports efficient gate operations. Bi-lingual English Spanish ($17.00)
Key Responsibilities:
1.Cargo Verification:
oInspect inbound and outbound cargo at the gate to ensure it matches shipping or receiving documents.
oCheck container/trailer numbers, seals, load conditions, and other identifying details.
oVerify driver credentials and trip documentation (e.g., delivery orders, bills of lading).
Log cargo movement in gate systems or check-in/check-out logs.
oCommunicate with dispatch, warehouse, or yard teams to coordinate cargo handling.
oEnsure correct routing of containers and trailers within the facility.
oAccurately complete and file gate logs, inspection checklists, and discrepancy reports.
oRecord any damage, seal breaks, or irregularities and report to supervisors immediately.
oAssist in maintaining up-to-date cargo tracking and inventory systems.
2.Security and Safety Compliance:
oMonitor cargo for signs of tampering, unauthorized materials, or hazardous conditions.
oEnsure gate procedures comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
oReport security violations, suspicious activity, or safety hazards.
3.Communication and Coordination:
oWork closely with gate security personnel, drivers, and yard staff.
oRelay issues such as incorrect paperwork, load discrepancies, or rejected cargo.
oSupport efficient flow of cargo by minimizing delays at entry/exit points.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
oHigh school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
o12 years of experience in cargo, gate, or terminal operations (preferred).
oFamiliarity with cargo documentation and logistics processes is a plus.
Technical Skills:
oBasic computer literacy and ability to use gate or inventory management systems.
oUnderstanding of shipping documents (bills of lading, delivery orders, etc.).
