ROLE OVERVIEW
We’re looking for a world-class short-form video editor who specializes in:
- TikTok / Reels / Shorts ad editing
- Narrative hooks that land instantly
- Visual comedy timing
- Meme-layering + subtle satire
- Pacing, punch-ins, punchlines, and scroll-stop momentum
- Integrating founder personality + brand mythology into every cut
Your work will directly shape the Motherferment brand and be seen by hundreds of thousands—if not millions—of people.
YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Editing 15–60 second high-impact ads
- Taking raw footage and turning it into scroll-stopping virality
- Implementing hooks that peak at second 0–2
- Polishing narrator-guided sequences
- Adding captions, kinetic text, cutaways, punch-ins, SFX
Maintaining brand personality
- Dark humor + rebel tone
- Edutainment pacing
- Premium look without losing authenticity
Experimenting relentlessly
- Testing alternate hooks
- Creating micro-edits for split testing
- Iterating based on performance data
Supporting concept development
- Suggesting angles, transitions, memes, and narrative punches
- Helping structure ads like Raindrop-style “chaos first” stories
WHAT YOU BRING
Required
- 3+ years in short-form editing for DTC brands, creators, or agencies
- Proven track record of viral-capable editing
- Mastery of pacing and storytelling
- Strong comedic timing
- Fluency in Premiere, Final Cut, DaVinci, or CapCut Pro
- Understanding of UGC ads and founder-led ads
- Ability to add subtle sound design, timing cues, and energy
Bonus Points
- Experience editing Liquid Death, Dr. Squatch, or Raindrop-style ads
- Ability to direct micro-shoots / advise on framing and pickups
- Keen eye for color, sound, and premium aesthetic
- You love consumer psychology and narrative structure
