POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Controller will be responsible for Banyan's day-to-day financial affairs, monthly financial reporting, general ledger and work paper analysis. Further responsibilities will include fixed asset schedules, GL account design and management, liaison for payroll issues, and working closely with management to develop company-wide budgets. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage all aspects of the accounting system, financial reporting, tax compliance, multiple department allocations and job costing (essential) in an IBM Power 7operating system environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The Controller will assist in providing accurate and relevant financial data necessary for budgetary and financial decisions company wide and all other aspects of financial, tax and reporting requirements.
Direct and coordinate the activities of the accounting department using standard accounting principles; act under the authority and responsibility designated by the chief financial officer, as needed.
Establish and maintain financial objectives and policies, prepare budgets, financial forecasts and projections
Prepare accurate and timely cash flow projections and timely reports, comply with all tax filings
Prepare work paper analysis to support general ledger
Prepare commentary by department and make recommendations based on financial analysis of the operations
Maintain capital outlay and fixed asset depreciation schedules
Assist in the implementation of departmental software queries, keep the database accurate by catching and correcting errors
Work as liaison with payroll team on payroll issues
Communicate with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner
Tobe fully proficient in this position,the Teammate must alsoacquire the following through on-the-job training:
A strong knowledge of Banyan's customers,Banyan's vendors, Banyan's computer system and software,Banyan's teammates and the departments they work in, obtainknowledge of management skills for both customers and teammates, possess a strong knowledge of departmental payroll procedures, knowledge of budgetary preparation and management, all standard accounting operating procedures and principles, knowledge of banking procedures as they relate to money management and money movement, knowledge of cash management, expenditure and disbursement processes, have a working knowledge of federal and state tax laws as they relate to company business partner, fiscal administration including 401(k), pension plan, benefits administration and risk management, fixed asset depreciation schedules, positive supervisory practices, demonstrated skills in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports, knowledge of economic trends and the current status of the company and obtainknowledge of each department within the company
REQUIREMENTS/JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Requires a degree in Accounting, Finance and relateddegree in accounting or the equivalent and a minimum of5 years accounting experience. CPA a plus but not required.

5+ years experience with a combination of public and corporate accounting

Detail oriented, results driven individual.

Database management and report writing skills in an IBM i-series environment, proficient use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills,both oral and written

Strong leadership skills, analytical and organizational skills.

Experience partnering with the IT to manage critical financial management systems.
