Dispatcher – Ambulance / EMS Operations Rapid Response EMS – Sunrise, FL
Rapid Response EMS is seeking highly motivated and dedicated Dispatchers to join our growing team.
As the central link between our EMS crews, facilities, and patients, the Dispatcher plays a vital role in ensuring safe, timely, and efficient operations. This position requires excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills. This is a night shift position.

Responsibilities
· Coordinate ambulance assignments by receiving, evaluating, and prioritizing all incoming requests for service.
· Anticipate operational needs, adjusting assignments proactively if delays, diversions, or emergencies occur.
· Act as the central hub of information, ensuring supervisors and leadership are updated on system status and high-priority events.
· Dispatch crews promptly and efficiently based on location, crew availability, and level of care required.
· Monitor and track units in real time using dispatch software, GPS, and radio communications to ensure on-time responses.
· Maintain constant communication with ambulance crews, hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities to provide updates and instructions.
· Document all calls and transports accurately, including times, unit numbers, crew assignments, and patient care details.
· Manage multiple communication channels simultaneously (phones, radios, CAD system, and email) with professionalism and accuracy.
· Demonstrate sound judgment in stressful situations, escalating issues when necessary to supervisors.
· Ensure compliance with company protocols, HIPAA, and state/county EMS regulations at all times.
· Provide excellent customer service, representing Rapid Response with professionalism and courtesy during every interaction.

· Ability to multitask – managing phones, radios, and computer systems simultaneously
· Critical thinking and problem-solving – making fast, sound decisions during emergencies
· Attention to detail – accurate data entry and thorough documentation

· Teamwork – working closely with EMS crews, supervisors, and healthcare facilities
· Customer service orientation – courteous and professional interactions with all callers
· Dependability – reliable attendance and commitment to patient-centered service
· Computer proficiency – comfort with dispatch software, GPS systems, and Microsoft Office
· Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred, not required – training provided)
· Previous dispatch, EMS, fire, or law enforcement experience (preferred)

· Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
· Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
