Job Title: Teen Program Coordinator

Location: Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County
Department: Teen Programs
Reports to: Director of Operations
FLSA Status: Part Time

Job Summary

The Teen Program Coordinator will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering engaging, educational, and fun programs for teens at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County. This position is a blend of curriculum development and program management, ensuring that our teen programs are effectively implemented and meet the needs and interests of youth. The Teen Coordinator will work closely with Club staff and other stakeholders to create innovative and meaningful experiences that empower teens to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

1. Curriculum Development & Enhancement (30%)

  • Develop & Design: Create and implement dynamic, age-appropriate, and engaging curriculum for teen programs, including but not limited to: leadership development, career exploration, life skills, technology, college readiness, sports, and arts.
  • Adapt & Update: Continuously assess and improve existing programs and curriculum based on feedback from teens, staff, and trends in youth development.
  • Coordinate Resources: Identify and procure materials, activities, and external resources to support program delivery.
  • Monitor Effectiveness: Regularly evaluate curriculum effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback to ensure program objectives are being met.

2. Program Implementation & Supervision (60%)

  • Ensure Successful Execution: Oversee the day-to-day operations of teen programs at the Clubs, ensuring activities are running smoothly and in alignment with the mission and goals of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County.
  • Staff Training & Support: Provide guidance and training to staff on the curriculum, activities, and best practices for working with teens. Act as a resource for Club staff to ensure high-quality implementation of programs.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Track attendance, participation, and engagement in programs. Regularly report on program outcomes and progress to leadership.
  • Youth Engagement: Foster a positive, welcoming environment that encourages teens to participate actively. Address any issues that may arise and provide support as needed.

3. Community & Family Engagement (10%)

  • Build Relationships: Foster strong relationships with teens, their families, and community partners. Encourage participation and ensure that families are kept informed about program offerings.
  • Outreach & Recruitment: Assist with outreach efforts to attract teens to programs. This includes developing marketing materials and participating in community events.
  • Collaborate: Work with community organizations, schools, and local businesses to enhance teen programming and create opportunities for internships, volunteerism, and career exploration.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Required:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with teens in a youth development or educational setting.
  • Experience in program development and curriculum creation.
  • Preferred:
  • Previous experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth development organization.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid or a willingness to obtain

Skills & Abilities

  • Curriculum Design: Strong ability to create engaging and educational curriculum and activities that meet the developmental needs of teens.
  • Program Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects and activities, ensuring deadlines and goals are met.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to engage with teens, parents, staff, and community members effectively.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff and teens.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to assess challenges and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cultural Competence: Understanding and respect for the diverse backgrounds of the teens and families we serve.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfort with technology, especially in educational settings (e.g., using tech for curriculum development, virtual learning, or esports).

Other Requirements

  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check and be eligible to work with children.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work some evenings or weekends as required for special events or programs.
  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to travel between Club sites or events.

Working Conditions

  • Work Environment: The position requires working in a youth-centered environment, including interaction with teens and other program staff. Some work may be done in a classroom-like setting, while other duties may take place in the community or off-site.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to move easily between locations, set up activity areas, and interact with teens in a variety of physical activities.
