Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Drayage Dispatcher with a strong background in container operations and a thorough understanding of ocean terminal (port) procedures. The ideal candidate must be bilingual in English and Spanish and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and dispatch drivers for container pickups and deliveries from ocean terminals and other yards.
- Communicate with port terminals, customers, and drivers to ensure efficient and timely operations.
- Monitor driver schedules, routes, and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Manage dispatch software and update delivery statuses in real time.
- Troubleshoot and resolve logistical issues promptly.
- Build strong relationships with port personnel and trucking partners.
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with all port and customer requirements.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a drayage or port dispatcher.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
- In-depth knowledge of port operations, container movement, and terminal procedures.
- Familiarity with dispatch software and TMS systems.
- Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or after-hours if necessary.
- Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with ocean terminals such as PortMiami, Port Everglades, etc.
- Experience dispatching both company drivers and owner-operators.
- Familiarity with TMS systems and terminal appointment systems.
