The Restaurant Manager plays a key leadership role in the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, ensuring an exceptional dining experience, smooth service delivery, and team effectiveness. Reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager, this position focuses on operational excellence, team supervision, guest satisfaction, and supporting financial goals. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in restaurant operations and a passion for hospitality.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day service in the dining room and bar, ensuring seamless and efficient operations during all shifts.
  • Support the kitchen team with communication, coordination, and service flow to maintain timely and high-quality food delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Monitor floor operations, table turns, and seating plans to maximize guest flow and service efficiency.
  • Enforce restaurant policies, service procedures, and brand standards.

Team Supervision & Support

  • Supervise front-of-house staff including servers, hosts, bussers, and bartenders.
  • Provide daily shift briefings, assign tasks, and ensure readiness for service.
  • Train new hires and continuously coach team members on service standards and guest interaction.
  • Foster a respectful, team-oriented work environment that encourages collaboration and accountability.
  • Help manage scheduling, timekeeping, and shift coverage in alignment with business needs.

Guest Experience

  • Ensure that every guest receives outstanding service, from arrival to departure.
  • Actively engage with guests on the floor, checking on satisfaction and resolving any issues promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor guest feedback (in-person and online), and communicate insights and opportunities to the Restaurant General Manager.
  • Anticipate guest needs and personalize service to exceed expectations.

Financial & Inventory Support

  • Assist the Restaurant General Manager in controlling labor and operating expenses through efficient scheduling and resource management.
  • Monitor usage and assist with inventory of supplies, china, glassware, utensils, and beverage stock.
  • Report discrepancies and potential issues to management to prevent overages or shortages.

Training & Development

  • Deliver ongoing training to ensure staff are knowledgeable about menu items, allergens, service techniques, and hospitality standards.
  • Promote cross-training and growth opportunities within the team.
  • Help implement service standards and ensure team accountability to those standards.

Administrative & Reporting

  • Support in compiling daily shift reports and logs.
  • Communicate operational issues and guest feedback to the Restaurant General Manager.
  • Assist in enforcing compliance with company policies and local labor laws.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in hospitality or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in restaurant or food & beverage operations.
  • At least 1–2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience in upscale or hotel restaurant environments is a strong advantage.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • Excellent communication, guest service, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of restaurant service procedures and hospitality best practices.
  • Familiarity with POS systems, scheduling tools, and basic office software (e.g., Excel, Word).
  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.

Licenses or Certifications

  • Food Handler’s Certificate and Alcohol Service Certification (as required by local jurisdiction).

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 25 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Must maintain a clean, professional, and well-groomed appearance in accordance with grooming standards.
