Position: Supply Chain Analyst
Reports to: Production Control Supervisor
Department: Production Control
Status: Full time, Exempt, 100% onsite
Job Purpose
The supply Chain analyst plays a critical role in optimizing out supply chain by strategically managing vendor relationships, negotiating favorable terms, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of essential materials and services to support our production and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Execution
Generate and manage purchase orders (POs), ensure adherence to contract terms and company policies,
Monitor order confirmations, shipping schedules, and delivery status to mitigate delays.
Coordinate logistics activities, including shipping, receiving, and inventory management, to ensure the timely and efficient flow of materials.
Collaborate with internal teams and external logistics partners to optimize delivery schedules and resolve transportation issues or to meet changing production requirements.
Track and resolve discrepancies in invoices, shipments, or quality issues with suppliers.
Supplier Coordination
Communicate regularly with suppliers to confirm order status, lead times, and changes to demand.
Participate in vendor qualification, onboarding, and performance reviews.
Lead price negotiations with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable contract terms, analyze market trends and supplier performance to inform negotiation strategies
Create and manage supplier scorecards and collaborate to improve quality, service, and reliability.
Inventory & Materials Planning
Work closely with planning and production teams to understand material requirements and usage trends.
Assist in inventory optimization efforts, including safety stock reviews and reorder point adjustments.
Support the identification and substitution of materials during shortages or obsolescence issues.
Help track and analyze slow-moving or excess inventory for potential disposition.
Lead supplier strategy plans to optimize cost structures, enhance sourcing efficiency, and drive year-over-year cost savings.
ERP & Data Accuracy
Ensure timely and accurate entry of purchase orders, supplier data, and receiving information into the ERP system.
Use ERP-generated reports to monitor open orders, stock status, and forecasted needs.
Support continuous improvement in purchasing processes by identifying inefficiencies and proposing solutions.
Maintain accurate records of purchasing activity in the ERP system, ensuring real-time inventory visibility.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with engineering, quality, sales, and production teams to ensure purchased items meet specifications.
Collaborate with finance to resolve invoice and payment issues.
Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Production, Quality Assurance, Finance) and external logistics partners to optimize delivery schedules, resolve transportation issues and resolve invoicing issues.
Participate in meetings related to material availability, production planning, and supplier development.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or a similar role.
Proven negotiation and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in supply chain management software (e.g., ERP systems like SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with manufacturing environments or wire/cable industry is a plus.
Work Environment
Primarily indoors in a climate-controlled manufacturing building with moderate noise levels.
Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts or machinery.
Physical Demands
• Ability to talk, hear, stand, sit, and walk throughout the day.
• Use of hands and fingers for handling material, data entry and communication.
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, reach, lift or move up to 55 pounds, push, pull, or grasp objects.
• Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel to customers, suppliers, or other sites for interplant visits and external training.
