This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing premium billing, agent commissions, reconciliation, and the company’s core financial reporting. The ideal candidate is highly organized and thrives in complex, fast-moving environments where clear systems and scalable processes are needed. They will also be expected to lead, develop, and grow a capable finance team that can support the company’s strategic goals.

Responsibilities:
About the Role
- Own and streamline premium billing operations; ensure accurate and timely commission payments.
- Oversee financial reconciliation processes, including chargeback handling and payment tracking.
- Maintain the general ledger, ensure timely monthly closes, and produce accurate financial statements.
- Develop and enforce internal controls to improve accuracy, prevent errors, support compliance, and provide financial transparency.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to improve the reporting structure and provide financial insights.
- Identify system improvements and help integrate tools for scalable financial workflows.
- Lead and grow a lean, high-performing finance team by setting clear expectations, mentoring staff, and optimizing roles and responsibilities.
- Assist in audit preparation, documentation, and implementation of best practices in financial operations.
Qualifications:
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Controller or senior accounting role.
- Experience working in or supporting commission-based business models, ideally in insurance.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to design efficient workflows and bring clarity to complex processes.
- Proven leadership abilities, with mentoring and developing finance teams.
- Deep understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial systems.
- Proficient in Excel and other accounting software; strong analytical and organizational skills.
