Job Title: Group Facilitator

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Facility Type: Mental Health & Substance Abuse – IOP & PHP
Position Type: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Clinical Director

Job Summary:

The Group Facilitator is responsible for leading therapeutic and educational group sessions for clients participating in IOP and PHP programs. The facilitator plays a vital role in helping clients build insight, develop coping strategies, and support their recovery journey through structured, evidence-based, and trauma-informed group work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate daily group therapy sessions according to the facility’s clinical schedule and treatment plan requirements.
  • Develop and implement group curriculum focused on mental health, substance abuse education, relapse prevention, coping skills, trauma recovery, emotional regulation, and life skills.
  • Collaborate with therapists, case managers, and other treatment team members to support individualized care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of group attendance, participation, and progress notes in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Assist in crisis intervention when necessary and ensure a safe therapeutic environment during group sessions.
  • Provide feedback and insight during treatment team meetings and participate in staff development activities as needed.
  • Uphold professional ethics and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and facility standards.

Qualifications:

  • Required Education:
    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
    • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Required Experience:
    • 1–2 years of experience facilitating group therapy or psychoeducational groups in a behavioral health, addiction recovery, or social services setting.
  • Licensing/Certification (Preferred or Required):
    • Certified Addiction Professional (CAP), Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS), or similar certification is preferred.
    • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
    • Must possess and maintain a valid, clean driving record if transporting clients is part of the role.
