We are looking to hire a dedicated HR & Benefits Specialist to join our team and will support our Human Resources department.
About the Role:
The HR & Benefits Specialist plays a critical role in managing and administering employee benefits programs while supporting overall human resources functions within the organization. This position ensures that benefits offerings are competitive, compliant with federal and state regulations, and aligned with the company’s strategic goals to attract and retain top talent. The specialist will serve as a key resource for employees, providing clear communication and guidance on benefits enrollment, claims, and policy changes. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with vendors, managing benefits data, and assisting with HR initiatives such as onboarding, recruitment, employee relations, and compliance reporting. Ultimately, the HR & Benefits Specialist contributes to fostering a positive employee experience and maintaining a productive, engaged workforce.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in HR or benefits administration.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs, federal and state regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems, benefits administration software, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees and vendors.
- Bilingual, Spanish preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or CEBS.
- Experience supporting a mid-to-large size organization with diverse employee populations.
- Familiarity with compensation practices, payroll processes and integration with benefits administration.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze benefits data and prepare detailed reports.
- Experience managing open enrollment periods and benefits education sessions.
Responsibilities:
- Administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, leave policies, and wellness initiatives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries, enrollment processes, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with benefits vendors and brokers to ensure accurate plan administration and timely communication of changes.
- Maintain benefits records, process enrollments and terminations, and ensure compliance with applicable laws such as ERISA, ACA, and COBRA.
- Support HR functions including recruitment onboarding, employee data management, and assisting with employee relations and compliance audits.
- Prepare and distribute benefits communications, educational materials, and reports to employees and management.
- Analyze benefits utilization and costs to recommend improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to continuously enhance the benefits program.
Skills:
The HR & Benefits Specialist utilizes strong organizational and analytical skills daily to manage complex benefits programs and ensure data accuracy. Effective communication skills are essential for explaining benefits options clearly to employees and resolving their concerns promptly. Proficiency with HRIS and benefits software enables efficient processing of enrollments, terminations, and compliance reporting. Knowledge of regulatory requirements ensures that all benefits offerings meet legal standards and reduce organizational risk. Additionally, collaboration and vendor management skills are critical for maintaining productive relationships and negotiating favorable terms for the company.
