Project Accountant – Construction General Contractor

Office located in the Ocoee / Apopka area (Central Florida)

We are a trusted, relationship-driven Central Florida General Contractor delivering commercial new construction and renovation projects. We’re seeking a Construction Project Accountant to oversee projects from a financial and compliance perspective—supporting job cost, draws, billing, and subcontractor payment cycles from start to finish.

What You’ll Do

  • Input and track all job-cost related payables and project expenses
  • Review and enter Subcontractor Pay Applications and Schedules of Values (SOVs)
  • Prepare monthly Owner draws and related SOVs
  • Post cash receipts and cash applications
  • Maintain Notice to Owner (NTO) documentation and lien releases
  • Support Project Managers with monthly cost reporting and forecasting accuracy
  • Analyze job performance weekly to ensure cost coding and projections are correct
  • Collaborate with PMs, vendors, subs, clients, and governmental agencies with professionalism and diplomacy
  • Prepare special accounting reports and support project audits and financial tracking
  • Participate in monthly project review meetings to improve efficiency, profitability, and client satisfaction

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of accounting experience in the Construction Industry
  • Strong knowledge of job-cost accounting, AIA billing, and subcontractor pay cycles
  • Davis-Bacon payroll compliance experience is required
  • Certified Payroll Reporting experience (Davis-Bacon) required
  • Proficiency with:
    • Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams
    • Sage Intacct (project/job cost modules)
    • Procore (draws, pay apps, SOVs, and project financials)
    • Outlook, Teams, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A true team player and self-starter with strong problem-solving skills

Reporting & Additional Info

  • Reports directly to the CFO
  • Position is salaried, professional, and exempt from overtime
  • Standard schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM, Monday – Friday
  • Local errands and jobsite travel as needed
