: Senior-level engineering position for product development, for highly experienced engineers with multiple years of relevant experience in the medical device industry. The senior engineer provides technical guidance and support to other engineers, while also performing complex
engineering and administrative tasks. They also maintain a high level of awareness of current industry trends & best practices and propose new products / projects for implementation. Engineers at this level work under general direction from department leadership, and their work is typically reviewed upon completion, or at major project milestones (design reviews).
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Mentor to junior engineering staff.
• Project management for complex product development projects.
• Technical expert, capable of solving complex engineering problems.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on relevant / emerging technologies.
• Generate IP.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on industry requirements & best practices.
• Write and support development of project proposals / business cases for new products & design changes.
• Support development of department budgets & project plans.
• Present design & summary of research results to cross-functional teams.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
• Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks preferred), MS office.
• Proficient in design of injection molded plastic parts / assemblies.
• 7-10 years of relevant experience in the medical device industry.
• Minimum of 5 years related experience in an FDA/GMP regulated industry.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking experience.
• Solid oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
• Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
• Solid understanding of statistical techniques and analysis.
• Project management experience.
• Ability to lead a team and mentor junior team members.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate with other departments.
Physical / Mental Demands:
• Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
• Work may require weekend and evening work.
• Work may require travel.
• Physical activity includes sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching above shoulders and lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Work under stress in a fast-paced environment.
