Job DescriptionOur client is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Accounting to lead all accounting and financial operations across a complex, multi-entity, multi-property hospitality portfolio. This role is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, month-end close, internal controls, audits, and accounting systems at both the corporate and property levels.
The Senior Director of Accounting partners closely with executive leadership to drive process improvements, optimize ERP systems, and build scalable accounting operations that support continued growth. Ideal candidates bring deep experience in hospitality, hotel, restaurant, or property management accounting, along with a proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting organization
- Design and scale team structures to support portfolio expansion
- Establish performance expectations and promote ongoing professional development
Financial Reporting & Close
- Oversee accurate and timely consolidated GAAP financial statements
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Coordinate external audits and ensure regulatory compliance
General Accounting Oversight
- Direct all general accounting functions, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management
- Ensure accurate intercompany accounting and reconciliations
- Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Third-Party & Managed Asset Accounting
- Oversee accounting for third-party managed hotels and properties
- Ensure accurate calculation of management fees and reimbursable expenses
- Serve as the primary accounting liaison for property owners and partners
- Support owner audits and financial reviews
Hospitality Operations Support
- Ensure proper accounting for rooms, food & beverage, events, and ancillary revenue streams
- Monitor and analyze key hospitality metrics, including GOP, NOI, labor costs, and margins
- Align financial reporting with operational performance and business objectives
Systems, Data & Process Improvement
- Own and optimize ERP, PMS, POS, payroll, and financial reporting systems
- Ensure data integrity and standardized reporting across all entities
- Lead automation initiatives, process improvements, and close optimization efforts
Strategic Partnership & Planning
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making
- Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting activities
- Support new property openings, transitions, and acquisition integrations
Treasury, Risk & Compliance
- Oversee cash flow forecasting and working capital management
- Manage banking, treasury, and merchant processing relationships
- Identify financial and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Ensure strong governance and timely audit issue remediation
Requirements
Education & Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA strongly preferred
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role
- Proven experience in multi-entity or multi-property environments
- Hospitality, hotel, or restaurant industry experience strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Expert knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
- Advanced proficiency with NetSuite and enterprise ERP/reporting systems
