Position Summary
The Purchasing and Inventory Manager plays a critical role in overseeing supplier partnerships, executing purchase orders, and ensuring inventory accuracy across third-party logistics (3PL) providers and internal facilities. This position serves as a strategic liaison between supply planning, demand forecasting, inventory management, and logistics operations. By aligning production and supply plans with organizational demand targets, the manager ensures optimal material availability, data integrity, and streamlined operational performance. Occasional travel involved, no relocation packages. This role is onsite only!
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Purchasing
- Manage open purchase orders and review inventory status to determine push/pull order needs.
- Oversee production schedules to ensure alignment with demand forecasts.
- Track and manage supplier open order (OO) reports and order status updates.
- Serve as coordinator for kit builds with 3PL (ShipMonk), managing submissions, project timelines, and communication for completion.
- Coordinate special projects with 3PL partners, including submissions, monitoring progress, verifying lot/expiration data, and ensuring SAP receipt completion.
- Review demand benchmark data and recommend changes based on demand trends/performance indicators.
Inventory Management
- Reconcile EOM inventory files from suppliers and 3PL locations.
- Coordinate and validate required entries prior to EOM reconciliation (case adjustments, returns, transfers).
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including lot and expiration tracking, across all systems.
- Manage ASN tracker files for inbound shipments, assign and monitor ASN movement and receipt completion, and coordinate variance resolution with Supply Chain and 3PL teams.
- Maintain item master data at 3PLs, ensuring item setup, mapping, and data integrity.
- Troubleshoot receiving discrepancies and collaborate with supply chain manager and 3pl inventory team for resolution of all variances.
- Provide monthly inbound and outbound order forecasts to 3PL.
- Oversee SAP master data maintenance for BOM components.
- Manage muscle testing vials, components, and kit inventory.
Reporting & Analysis
- Generate ad hoc reports and maintain KPI documentation (e.g., destruction forms, disassembly costs, freight costs).
- Pull and analyze KPI data to identify trends, opportunities, and strengths.
- Prepare and maintain weekly meeting decks summarizing inventory, production, and supply chain updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, supply planning, or inventory management (experience with 3PL preferred).
- Proficiency with SAP Business One or equivalent ERP system (experience with Sales Force and Shopify a plus)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills (Power BI, Tableau a plus).
