Salary Range: $75,668-$89,095.24 annually

Hybrid Schedule: 2 days from home and 3 days on-site

United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring a Director, Public Policy to join our team. As Director, Public Policy, you will develop and advance the public policy agenda of United Way in support of United Way’s impact area strategic plans and provide leadership internally and externally to further synergize and align for broader community impact.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and implement United Way’s public policy action plan in support of organizational strategic plans, including:
  • Research and analysis of public policy issues;
  • Staffing of the Public Policy Committee;
  • Provision of staff support to statewide UW public policy efforts;
  • Development of the common statewide and local legislative agenda;
  • Implementation of activities in support of the public policy agenda; and
  • Coordination of public and internal education and advocacy efforts.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships on behalf of United Way with public and private social service organizations, other funders, and elected officials and their staff teams by attending appropriate community, organizational, and committee meetings.
  • Keep abreast of community programs and public policy issues, and attend community meetings and events in the representation of United Way.

Requirements:

Education Requirements: Master’s degree in human and social services, relevant leadership, or equivalent experience.


Experience Requirements: Minimum of five years’ experience in the non-profit/social service arena. Knowledge of social service issues & social service delivery.


Technology Requirements: Intermediate Word, beginner knowledge of modern browsers, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.


Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Excellent writing skills as well as the ability to speak clearly and intelligently, able to deal with its customers, agencies, volunteers, community leaders, deal with unexpected obstacles, andhave creative problem-solving skills, good judgment, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
