We are seeking a Box Truck Driver to join our team! You will be responsible for safely operating a truck with a max capacity 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). This position requires excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with customers, as well as the ability to safely lift and load heavy items onto the vehicle.
This position requires a dependable and organized individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
*****This is an over the road position and will require the perfect candidate to be away from home 2-3 weeks at a time or longer if needed and agreed upon (we will never force extended trips on you, we will discuss and agree on the best outcomes for you and the company).******
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a heavy box truck following all traffic rules and regulations
- Ensure On-time pickup and delivery, following all instructions of dispatch
- Communicate with customers courteously and professionally while executing pickups/deliveries
- Load and unload items into and out of the pickup vehicle safely
- Ensure that items are handled with care and secured to prevent damage during transportation
- Maintain a clean and organized pickup vehicle, conducting regular inspections, and reporting any maintenance or safety concerns. Inspect truck before and after each
- Provide exceptional customer service and positively representing the organization
- Properly track and document driving hours log
- Report any damage, issues, or incidents to dispatch immediately
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in truck driving or other related fields. Proven ability to operate a box truck safely and efficiently
- Ability to handle physical workload
- Strong work ethic
- Valid driver's license
- Clean driving record and ability to pass a motor vehicle records check
- Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations applicable to large commercial vehicles
- Ability to work independently and adhere to a set schedule
- Proficiency in maneuvering the truck in tight spaces
- Flexible schedule to accommodate changes in pickup routes or schedules
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to push and pull up to one ton lbs on a pallet with the use of a pallet jack
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, climb, and bend for extended periods of time
- Ability to operate heavy machinery, including box trucks, for extended hours
- Visual acuity to read road signs, maps, and operating instructions
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for operating truck controls and handling bags and boxes
- Strong back and abdominal muscles to maintain proper posture while operating equipment and lifting heavy objects
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow
- Ability to tolerate exposure to unpleasant odors and potentially dangerous situations
- Good hearing to detect warning signals and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment health screening and motor vehicles record check
Language Requirements
Employees are not required to communicate exclusively in English within the workplace. However, the nature of the position entails interactions with customers and colleagues who primarily use English. In such instances, a fundamental understanding of written and spoken English for comprehending instructions, reading street signs, as well as the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English, is necessary.
