Job Description
We are seeking a strategic and execution-focused Product Manager to lead the development and scaling of the PowerBAK platform as we expand into enterprise-level government contracts. In this role, you will own the product roadmap, manage sprint execution, and serve as the primary bridge between business leadership, engineering, compliance, and public sector stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary owner of the PowerBAK product roadmap, ensuring features align with enterprise B2G contract requirements.
  • Define and document detailed requirements for the investigator portal, candidate portal, and agency administrative dashboard.
  • Manage sprint planning, backlog grooming, standups, and retrospectives in coordination with engineering and design teams.
  • Translate CJIS, POST, and state-specific government requirements into clear, build-ready product specifications.
  • Partner with security and compliance consultants to embed CJIS, NIST, and SOC 2 considerations into product architecture from inception.
  • Coordinate integration strategy across third-party APIs including criminal records, MVR, credit checks, employment verification, and state DMV systems.
  • Ensure product commitments align with RFP responses and executed government contracts.
  • Track and report on key product performance metrics, including time-to-hire, investigator productivity, and agency adoption rates.
  • Conduct competitive analysis against public safety and background investigation platforms to inform differentiation strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership to prioritize features that support enterprise growth initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 7 years of product management experience, with at least 2 years in GovTech, B2G, or B2B, Fintech, RegTech, or compliance-driven environments.
  • Working knowledge of CJIS Security Policy, FedRAMP, or comparable regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience managing distributed engineering teams in a remote environment.
  • Strong written communication skills, including drafting PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Hands-on experience with sprint management tools such as Jira or Linear and design collaboration platforms such as Figma.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced team startup environment with evolving priorities.

Soft Skills

  • Leadership: Ability to drive clarity and direction across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic Thinking: Skilled at balancing long-term platform architecture with immediate contract requirements.
  • Communication: Able to translate complex compliance and technical concepts into clear business language.
  • Accountability: Takes full ownership of roadmap execution and delivery outcomes.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in law enforcement, public safety, or criminal justice technology platforms.
  • Familiarity with background investigation workflows.
  • Experience with API-first product architectures and third-party data integrations.
  • Prior experience supporting small business or government contractors.

Additional Information

  • Remote, U.S.-based, Full-Time Contract (W-2 or 1099), conversion to FTE based on performance
