Summary/Objective

Insurance Scheduling Clerk is responsible for all aspects of scheduling a case to be performed at the Facilities


Essential Functions

  • Schedules operative and endoscopic procedures, providing adequate time, checking privilege list and review any conflicts for time, equipment and space.
  • Responsible for notification process involving newly scheduled cases, add-ons, changes and cancellations.
  • Coordinates with Administrative Assistant, Executive Directors and Physician Offices regarding block time. Confers with the Physicians office and makes any necessary changes to the Physician block time as indicated by their staff.
  • Prints schedule and faxes to appropriate Physician office for schedule case confirmation. Once the schedule had been confirmed makes the necessary changes.
  • Notifies Anesthesiology and Pathology regarding frozen section needing to be obtained for on specific cases. Also notifies Radiology as needed for scheduled cases.
  • Assists with patient pre-registration and QI the pre-registered patients.
  • Assists the Insurance Verification Department with verifying and notifying patients of their benefits when time permits.
  • Provides additional clerical support to other areas. Assists in answering the phone and making phone calls to patients.
  • Promotes positive communications with physicians, their office staff and coworkers.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Requires variable amounts of sitting, standing, lifting, bending and walking. Intermittently twist to reach equipment surrounding desk. Perform simple grasping and fine manipulation. Communicate extensively through the use of a telephone and communicate through written means.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to a minimum of 10 pounds and a maximum of 40 pounds and push or pull 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is seldom exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee seldom works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is not exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, vibration and the risk of radiation.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Requirements:

Education: High School graduate or equivalent
