Position Summary:
The Environmental Services Operations Manager at Lemontree Healthcare will oversee the strategic and day-to-day operations of the Environmental Services Department. This role is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors by managing cleaning, sanitation, and facility maintenance activities. The Operations Manager will work closely with leadership and other departments to uphold the highest standards of healthcare cleanliness, infection control, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management:
- Lead and manage the Environmental Services team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Provide strategic direction and ensure the department meets organizational goals and objectives.
- Establish a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional development within the department.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions and adherence to financial goals.
- Cleaning & Maintenance Oversight:
- Ensure all areas of the healthcare facility, including patient rooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, and exterior spaces, are maintained according to cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Oversee routine cleaning schedules, special projects, and deep-cleaning initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to infection control guidelines, including CDC and healthcare-specific protocols for cleaning and disinfection.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure environmental service operations comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor the use and disposal of chemicals, waste management, and hazardous materials.
- Implement best practices for environmental health and safety in coordination with infection control specialists.
- Quality Control & Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor cleaning processes and outcomes through regular audits, inspections, and feedback loops.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, implement process enhancements, and promote innovation in service delivery.
- Investigate any environmental service-related incidents and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with clinical and operational leadership to ensure that Environmental Services supports the overall patient experience, including prompt response to urgent requests and seamless coordination during hospital procedures.
- Establish effective communication channels with other departments, including Facilities, Infection Control, and Patient Services.
- Provide timely reporting and updates to senior leadership on department performance and outcomes.
- Training & Development:
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for staff on cleaning techniques, equipment uses, safety protocols, and infection prevention.
- Promote a culture of ongoing learning and professional development to enhance team competency.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental services, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience (preferred).
- Certifications in Infection Control, Environmental Services Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental services management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a healthcare or large-scale facility environment.
- Experience managing budgets, staffing, and operational goals.
- Strong background in infection control and regulatory compliance within healthcare settings.
- Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of cleaning standards, infection prevention practices, and healthcare facility operations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various departments and stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform tasks that require fine motor skills, such as handling cleaning equipment and supplies.
