Job Summary and Qualifications

The West Florida Division Vice President (VP) of Quality and Clinical Operations advances high quality, patient-centered care by leading the direction and facilitation of performance assessment, re-assessment, development, and implementation of quality and patient safety and infection prevention initiatives and performance improvement programs for the division. By developing and implementing strategic plans aligned to business objectives and engaging stakeholders as partners in the pursuit of excellence in patient care, the Division VP fosters a culture in which stakeholders are committed to the vision/mission/values of the organization.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Leads the continuing development of the quality infrastructure across the division. Ensures that resources are leveraged to maximize support of the hospitals and division in achievement of goals, such as developing and supporting a culture of transparency, safety, and trust that leads to reduced errors, elimination of unsafe processes, and increased involvement of staff and physicians in support of this culture.
  • Supports hospital Senior Leaders and quality leaders in achieving top performance ranking in publicly reported measures. Interfaces with appropriate personnel to leverage corporate resources, programs, tools, and methodologies to achieve care excellence across a multi-hospital division.
  • Collaborates with Division CMO, CNO, CEO, CFO and Division Data Analyst to support data analysis, reporting, and outcomes improvement. Contributes to ongoing enhancement of division quality reporting methods and dashboards.
  • Leads division-wide standardization in targeted process improvement initiatives and evaluates success through pre-established criteria. Supports the identification of innovative approaches to the improvement of care delivery in the hospital setting and/or community continuum in support of the HCA Healthcare mission.
  • Assists facilities in building a proactive quality department responsible for identifying areas for performance improvement, ensuring compliance with federal, state, or local regulatory requirements for rapid cycle improvement.
  • Stays abreast of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations. Establishes goals to differentiate the division as a leader in care excellence, quality and patient safety.
  • Stays abreast of legal and regulatory standards and ensures compliance. Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with all legal/regulatory standards.
  • Develops and maintains strategic external relationships which advance the organization's position within the community and improve the health of communities served.
  • Provides coordination of Patient Safety, Infection Prevention and Quality teams, in partnership with medical staff and health care teams on strategic initiatives.
  • Provides oversight and/or collaboration with the Medical Staff Office (MSO) Services with hospital CMO and facility leadership. This includes coordination of OPPE, FPPE, Peer Review activity that contributes to re-credentialing of providers.
  • Coordinates and/or leads emergency management efforts in collaboration with division and hospital leadership for a continual state of readiness or actual response with the corporate office.
  • Provides leadership and mentors new leaders and identification of potential talent for development in human capital and professional development and provides structure in that development in the areas of responsibility, including beyond hospital to division or corporate roles.
  • Provides collaboration and support of activities related to care excellence, disease specific care, risk management, patient safety, and other aspects of performance improvement across the facility.
  • Provides oversight and collaborative support to Workforce Health and Safety programs and initiatives at the division and facility levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Practices and adheres to the "Code of Conduct" and "Mission and Value Statement."

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or a health-related field, Required
  • Master's degree in nursing or a health-related field, Preferred
  • 5+ years in Quality/Risk Management, Required
  • 5+ years in quality, patient safety, and performance improvement, Required
  • Experience with a multi-facility environment, Required

Licensure, Certifications:

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Preferred
  • Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), Preferred
