General Purpose:
The Pastor or Department Head for Next Gen provides leadership, strategy, and alignment to help the next generation become lifelong followers of Christ through Calvary Kids, Calvary Students, and Calvary Young Adults.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide vision, organization, and leadership for the Next Gen Department to ensure alignment with Calvary PSLs mission and strategy.
- Lead, develop, and supervise a team of three Directors within the department.
- Develop, manage, and oversee Next Gen budgets.
- Create and implement a comprehensive discipleship strategy with clear next steps that move kids, students, and young adults from attenders to fully engaged participants.
- Stay current on Next Gen ministry trends to keep the department effective and innovative.
- Offer biblical guidance and support for families.
- Be the champion of the spiritual health and growth of young families.
- Design and execute a volunteer strategy to recruit, train, and retain a strong volunteer base with defined roles and responsibilities.
- Maintain and update all Next Gen handbooks, policies, and procedures.
- Lead weekly department meetings.
- Teach the Bible on a rotational and consistent basis across all Next Gen ministries.
- Collaborate with other Department Heads to advance cross-departmental initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Masters degree in Bible, Theology, or related ministry field preferred.
- 5+ years of recent experience in full-time ministry, preferably Next Gen, is required.
- Experience leading 3 or more paid staff.
- Effective communication and vision-casting.
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and make decisions with little supervision.
- Multi-site experience is a plus.
- A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9).
- Understands and agrees with Calvary PSLs statement of faith, mission, and core commitments.
Additional Comments:
This position performs Ministerial duties, which include:
- Praying with people.
- Providing Biblical guidance, assistance, and spiritual wisdom to individuals dealing with personal issues.
- Leading and/or actively participating in Discipleship Environments.
- Assisting with administering the ordinances of baptism and communion.
- Organizing and directing ministry programs within your area.
- Leading and/or participating in outreach endeavors.
- Supervising the Churchs administration and finances within your area.
