Our busy animal hospital is seeking a reliable, compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This role combines patient care, client communication, veterinary technical skills, and kennel responsibilities. We are looking for someone who is organized, trustworthy, and loves working with both dogs and cats.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting veterinarians and technicians with exams, procedures, and treatments
- Handling and restraining animals safely
- Performing blood draws, IV catheter placement, dental cleanings, and anesthesia monitoring
- Feeding, walking, exercising, and bathing patients and boarders
- Administering medications as directed
- Cleaning kennels, hospital areas, and surgical instruments
- Maintaining accurate patient records and restocking supplies
- Providing excellent customer service and communicating clearly with clients
Requirements:
- While veterinary or animal care experience is preferred, it is not required — we are happy to provide training
- Must have a strong interest in pursuing veterinary medicine as a career
- Must be dependable with reliable transportation
- Able to multi-task in a busy environment and work independently when needed
- Positive attitude, good communication skills, and strong teamwork
- Able to stand, bend, kneel, and lift/move up to 40 lbs
- Must be available for rotating weekends and holidays
