Job Title: Overnight Specialist

Job Type: Direct Care Staff

Position Reports to: Program Coordinator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Covenant House Florida reserves the right to unilaterally modify, remove, or add to any of the following:

  • Provide direct supervision and evaluation of Overnight team members to ensure high quality performance, on-line training, and the provision of services to youth in accordance with the Covenant House Mission Statement and Philosophy.
  • Oversee and ensure execution of established safety, security, and quality overnight operations policies and standards.
  • Collaborates with the Overnight Assistant Coordinator to ensure effective oversight, alignment of team operations, and consistent implementation of policies and procedures during overnight shifts.
  • Ensure that agency objectives related to the appropriate professional training and development of team members are met. Ensure the timely and appropriate completion of employee evaluations. Provide a supportive work environment for team members.
  • Schedule and assign coverage on Residential floors and at welcome center. Familiarize and assist youth with the Intake process. Ensure that the principles of open intake are maintained, and youth receive the highest quality of care. Ensure that youth, donors, visitors, and the public receive information and assistance that reflects our Mission, Principles, and Core Values.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, tracking, and reporting data for grant objectives and case records and services in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and licensing/grant requirements.
  • Ensure that the morning report is accurately prepared and distributed. Complete residential file reviews and file breakdowns accordingly.
  • Oversee the ongoing maintenance of the physical plant to ensure that areas are neat and clean to provide a safe environment at CHF.
  • Attend and participate in assigned meetings, work groups, and committees as assigned by direct supervisor.
  • Recognize team members and celebrate accomplishments.
  • Assume the role of Residential Administrator On-Duty (RAOD) during overnight shift and perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Drive company vehicles to escort youth to and from hospital visits, school, and various other appointments, if needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in human services, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, or social work required.



EXPERIENCE:

Two years of experience working in human services required. One year of supervisory experience, preferably in a residential setting or working with adolescent or at-risk population, preferred. One to two years case management experience preferred.

SCHEDULE:

Requires flexibility with weekly work schedule to meet needs of youth. This is an overnight position scheduled 3 days a week from 10:30pm to 8:30am

SKILLS:

Must be a self-starter and team player with the ability to work well with others. Ability to promote a positive work environment, provide constructive feedback, and exercise appropriate authority when needed. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain order and exercise appropriate judgement in crisis situations including the physical ability to intervene in critical or emergency situations. Excellent communication skills as demonstrated by concise, timely and professional correspondence, both written and verbal. Demonstrated understanding of conflict resolution skills and sensitivity to culturally diverse populations and computer literacy is required.



TRANSPORTATION:

Must have a valid FL driver’s license and good driving record. May need to transport clients/staff if required using agency transportation.



WORKING CONDITIONS:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work occasionally in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. on occasion, bend, sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. Some weekend/holiday work may be required.



SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

This position performs supervisory duties and is the supervisor/Residential Administrator on Duty (RAOD) during the shift



EQUIPMENT USED:

Must be able to utilize basic word processing, email, and internet programs.


Due to licensing requirements, Covenant House Florida applicants will not be permitted to begin employment service until they have been cleared by a Florida and national criminal background search. All applicants for employment will be responsible for the cost associated with instituting background checks and will be eligible for reimbursement after 90 days of service.
