JOB SUMMARYThe Modification Electrician/Avionics Technician is responsible for reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, and technical manuals to fabricate and install electrical wiring, harnesses, or coaxial cables on KC-130J aircraft. This role involves installing, testing, and troubleshooting aircraft electrical systems to ensure conformance to specifications, as well as performing repairs, removals, and reinstallation of existing systems or integrating new systems for modifications.
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform rewiring, modification, and troubleshooting of complex avionics/electronic systems.
  • Conduct aircraft inventory, acceptance, and inspections.
  • Perform validation and verification testing of systems and components.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance as required.
  • Execute on-aircraft and off-aircraft electrical modifications including wire/harness/connector/component removal, installation, repairs, routing, terminations, continuity checks, troubleshooting, and AC/DC operational checks.
  • Maintain assigned aircraft in accordance with Military Technical Orders, Manufacturer, and Company Instructions.
  • Use provided test equipment and Ground Support Equipment to perform assigned tasks.
  • Read, interpret, and apply instructions from blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and other approved data.
  • Assist with ordering parts, tools, materials, and equipment as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned work area.
  • Adhere to Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and Company Tool Control Program.
  • Comply with General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • Ensure proper operation and use of special test equipment and Ground Support Equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished.
  • Perform simple computer input functions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of documented experience in aircraft electrical/avionics installation, modification, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Ability to use meters, test equipment, and standard calibration testing equipment.
  • Strong aptitude for reading and interpreting aircraft electrical installation/routing drawings.
  • Ability to utilize computer-based systems to perform duties.
  • Must be self-motivated and maintain training currency.
  • Willingness and ability to work any shift or schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Heavy C-130 electrical modification and wire routing experience.
  • Experience with KC-130J aircraft systems.
