Work Schedule:
- Morning Shift 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM AND Evening Shift 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 2-2-3 rotation shifts
Job Summary:
The Finishing Operator is responsible for supporting a cGMP-compliant pharmaceutical manufacturing process while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment at Catalent, St. Petersburg. Under supervision, this role performs quality inspections to identify and remove sub-standard softgels and foreign materials, operates finishing equipment, and packages capsules for shipment staging. The position requires adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure high-quality pharmaceutical products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete documentation accurately and in compliance with SOPs for the finishing process.
- Inspect softgels for quality, approving or rejecting as needed; perform re-inspections when required.
- Handle and stage tray stacks for inspection or packaging.
- Inspect and clean empty trays for reuse in production cycles.
- Operate softgel washers, counting line machines, and scales; may also operate printing machines as required.
- Perform line clearances between product lots.
- Package softgels in bulk, label cartons correctly, and transfer sealed cartons to warehouse or staging areas.
- Follow safety procedures for handling non-hazardous, hazardous, and DEA waste.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
- Immediately notify supervision regarding potential quality issues that may require QA involvement.
- Participate in cross-training to support tasks in other production departments as needed.
- Adapt to work assignments in different areas depending on staffing levels or workload.
- Assist in updating SOPs for assigned departments.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous manufacturing experience in a GMP-regulated industry preferred.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Basic computer proficiency, including Windows navigation and data entry.
- Strong ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to interpret and execute written instructions.
- Competence in math, including fractions, decimals, and unit conversions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply practical solutions.
- Capacity to interpret and follow instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Physical and Vision Requirements:
- Ability to sit intermittently, stand regularly, walk regularly, and lift up to 30 lbs (no more than 44 lbs without assistance) during a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to push/pull an average of 144 kg (approximately 460 lbs).
- Vision requirements include passing the Ishihara Color Vision Screening and maintaining 20/30 acuity (near and far) with or without corrective lenses (minimum 4 of 6 correct on Catalent’s in-house screening).
- Frequent reading of documents and use of computer monitors.
- Operation of industrial machinery required.
