Role Overview
The Senior Key Account Manager provides strategic leadership over the Key Account Management function while directly overseeing a portfolio of the company’s most critical customers. This role is responsible for guiding, mentoring, and holding Key Account Managers accountable to performance standards, customer satisfaction, and revenue growth. The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with deep account management expertise and a hands-on, results-driven approach.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Oversight

Directly oversee, coach, and support Key Account Managers to ensure consistent execution of account strategies

Set performance expectations, KPIs, and best practices for key account management

Review account plans, forecasts, and customer communications for accuracy and alignment

Identify skill gaps and provide ongoing training and development for the team

Serve as escalation point for complex customer issues and high-level negotiations

Ensure alignment between Key Account Managers and internal teams (operations, finance, logistics, customer service)
Strategic Account Management

Own and manage the company’s most strategic and high-revenue accounts

Develop and execute long-term account growth strategies focused on retention, margin, and expansion

Lead executive-level customer relationships and strategic business reviews

Oversee contract negotiations, pricing strategies, renewals, and service agreements

Monitor account profitability, KPIs, service levels, and risk exposure
Cross-Functional & Reporting

Partner with leadership to align account strategy with company objectives

Provide accurate forecasting, reporting, and insights on account performance

Analyze market trends and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement

Support sales leadership with pipeline visibility and account intelligence
Qualifications

5+ years of experience in key account management or strategic sales

3+ years of experience leading or managing account managers or sales teams
-
Proven success managing large, complex, or enterprise-level accounts

Strong leadership, coaching, and performance-management skills

Excellent negotiation, communication, and executive presentation abilities

Strong analytical skills and CRM proficiency
