Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Providing critical mental health support within K-12 schools, this role focuses on delivering individualized and group counseling services to students. The professional will be engaged in evidence-based intervention techniques, including verbal de-escalation strategies tailored for children and adolescents, while working collaboratively with educators and support staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group mental health assessments and counseling services to students.
- Implement crisis intervention techniques, including TEACH strategies for managing aggressive behavior.
- Prepare and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) documentation, data collection, and progress monitoring.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, paraprofessionals, and other service providers to support student well-being.
- Conduct mental health appraisals encompassing psycho/social/behavioral functioning and develop remediation plans informed by research-based practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Masters degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling (psychologists are not accepted).
- Minimum of two years experience working with children and parents in a mental health capacity.
- Florida Department of Education Certification in social work, licensed clinical social worker, licensed mental health provider as per Chapter 491, F.S., or the ability to become a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern within six months of hire.
- Commitment to obtain clinical licensure within three years under qualified supervision.
- Strong skills in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and collaborative teamwork within educational settings.
Location and Schedule:
- Position is on-site in Cape Coral, Florida, supporting various schools within the district.
- Contract duration runs from January 5 through May 29.
- 35 hours per week, typically 7 hours per day.
- Caseload and school assignments will vary based on district needs.
