We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant (internal title is Accounting Associate) to join our telecom construction firm. As the Accounting Associate,
you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports, job costing, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
What You'll Do:
- Assist in the preparation of month-end financial statements in accordance with company month-end closing procedures
- Maintain and update various general ledger accounts on a weekly basis with supporting schedules and reconciliations for month-end closing and year-end audit
- Perform cost analysis and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement
- Strong understanding of depreciation and amortization of fixed assets and interest expense related loan commitments
- Knowledge of job cost accounting, job contracts and related accounting entries to record and reconcile retainage
- Strong understanding of processing and analyzing company bank and credit card transactions related to expense reporting while interacting with employees in a professional manner
- Monitor, review and maintain internal control procedures while making recommendations for improvement for senior management approval
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum 3 years of professional accounting experience
- Public accounting experience a plus
- Florida CPA is a plus
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong understanding of bank processes and financial data analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be punctual and responsible with a good professional attitude
- Strong proficiency with QuickBooks
- Strong knowledge with Microsoft Office 365
- Strong Excel skills with emphasis on v-lookup and pivot table functions
