Job Description

Seeking a Credit Analyst to support the underwriting and credit approval process for international banking relationships. This role will focus on analyzing credit risk related to cross-border commercial lending, trade finance, and structured international transactions, primarily involving Latin America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and analyze credit requests for international clients, including:
  • Commercial & corporate loans
  • Trade finance products (letters of credit, standby LCs, import/export financing)
  • Working capital facilities and structured credit solutions
  • Perform detailed financial statement analysis (IFRS and US GAAP), cash flow modeling, and ratio analysis for foreign counterparties.
  • Assess country risk, sovereign risk, FX exposure, and political/economic factors impacting cross-border transactions.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit memorandums for Credit Committee, clearly outlining risks, litigants, and recommendations.
  • Analyze collateral structures including guarantees, pledged deposits, trade-related instruments, and corporate support.
  • Conduct ongoing credit monitoring, annual reviews, covenant compliance, and portfolio risk assessments.
  • Work closely with Relationship Managers, Trade Finance, Operations, and Compliance to ensure transactions meet regulatory and internal credit standards.
  • Ensure adherence to U.S. regulatory requirements, internal credit policies, and international banking best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of credit analysis or underwriting experience within international banking, foreign banking organizations, or trade finance.
  • Strong experience underwriting cross-border credit facilities and international counterparties.
  • Solid understanding of trade finance products, international lending structures, and risk mitigation tools.
  • Knowledge of Latin American markets strongly preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and credit writing skills.
  • Familiarity with U.S. banking regulations applicable to foreign bank agencies (FDIC, OCC, Federal Reserve).
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
