Demonstrate knowledge of Federal Law (ADA/504) as it relates to students with disabilities.
• Provides support to school-based and district personnel regarding 504 federal law, policy and procedural requirements, eligibility procedures, and best practices in instruction, accommodations, and supports of students with disabilities.
• Reviews and monitors 504 student records, 504 Plans, re-evaluations, accommodations, and interventions to ensure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and district procedures.
• Provides professional development, in-service training, and technical assistance on legal requirements, 504 plan development, evaluations under 504 processes and parent rights.
• Participates in school-based 504 meetings to support staff and families with decision-making and documentation when necessary.
• Responds to parent concerns, complaints, and due process requests, and provides appropriate follow-up in coordination with the ESE Director and legal counsel as needed.
• Assists with investigations and reporting to the Office of Civil Rights regarding corrective action plans, compliance inquiries, and program implementation.
