On-Call Security Guard (Mobile Advisor)

Jacksonville Job Corps Center is seeking dependable and professional individuals to join our team as On-Call Security Guards (Mobile Advisors). This position provides coverage for unscheduled call-outs, vacations, training, and other staffing needs. Hours are not guaranteed and will vary based on operational requirements.

Coverage may be needed for any of the following shifts:
  • Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Prime Shift: 3:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
  • Overnight Shift: 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.

This position reports to the Safety, Security, and Transportation Manager and is classified as hourly, non-exempt.

Position Summary

The On-Call Security Guard (Mobile Advisor) helps maintain a safe, secure, and positive campus environment for students, staff, and visitors. In addition to enforcing center rules, policies, and applicable laws, Mobile Advisors serve as mentors and role models by promoting positive behavior, professionalism, and accountability. This position requires sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively to routine and emergency situations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate and uphold Covenant Learning Solutions' values and operating principles.
  • Enforce center policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conduct security patrols and building inspections to protect students, staff, visitors, and center property.
  • Monitor for safety hazards, suspicious activity, emergencies, and policy violations.
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.
  • Prepare accurate incident, accident, and security reports.
  • Maintain required security logs and documentation.
  • Assist students, staff, and visitors in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations and gather information related to incidents.
  • Issue visitor passes and temporary vehicle permits.
  • Enforce student accountability procedures, including pass and sign-in/sign-out requirements.
  • Provide escort services as needed.
  • Support transportation operations by operating government vehicles in accordance with all federal, corporate, and center requirements.
  • Assist with Reception operations and visitor control when assigned.
  • Operate the center switchboard when required.
  • Participate in student disciplinary processes, including enforcement of zero-tolerance policies related to violence, drugs, and other prohibited conduct.
  • Attend all required meetings, in-service training, and professional development activities.
  • Foster a workplace and learning environment free from harassment, intimidation, bullying, and discrimination.
  • Maintain accountability for students, staff, government property, and assigned equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Ability to operate government vehicles and standard office equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including young adults from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive during emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience in security, law enforcement, corrections, military service, public safety, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of security operations, emergency response, crowd management, and report writing.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth, education, residential programs, or behavioral management is preferred.
